Gladys Elizabeth Thomas, the daughter of Oren and Pearl (O'Dell) Curry, was born June 1, 1918, in Dickens, Iowa. Gladys attended school and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, SD.
On June 18, 1939, Gladys was united in marriage to Lowell B. Thomas in Sioux Falls, SD. They resided in Mt. Vernon, SD, Nebraska, and Chicago, IL, before moving to Everly where they resided for 35 years. In 1981 they moved to Spencer.
Gladys was involved in the restaurant business for over 50 years, most recently she worked at McDonald's in Spencer for the last 18 years. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Spencer and the Saddle Club where she showed horses. Gladys enjoyed square dancing, reading, and camping, but most of all she loved to follow her grandchildren's activities.
On August 28, 2007, Gladys passed away at the Northshire Residence in Spencer at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Thomas on December 2, 1983; her parents Oren and Pearl Curry; one sister, Charlotte Arndt; one brother, Arthur Curry; and one step-daughter, Beverly Holleson
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Dennis (Diane) Thomas of Milford, IA; two grandchildren: Michele Thomas and Shawn (Pennie) Thomas; one great-granddaughter, Emma Thomas; one step-daughter, Patricia Carter of Sioux Rapids, IA; one step-sister, Marlene Averill of Live Oak, CA; seven step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
