Gladys Katherine Lydia Fry, the daughter of Charles and Louise (Topp) Jurries, was born March 7, 1913 in Frankford, IL. She attended school in Sherburn, MN and Estherville, IA.
She was united in marriage to Virgil Fry on February 14, 1933 in Jackson, MN. She and Virgil farmed near Emmetsburg, Curlew and Laurens. In 1970, she moved to Spencer, where she worked at HyVee and at Stub's Ranch Kitchen. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and attended all services at the Ruthven Assisted Living Center, where she has resided the past eight years.
Gladys passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; two daughters; a son; a son-in-law; two grandsons and numerous brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters: Mildred and her husband, Gale White of Laurens, IA and Marlene Lowman of Des Moines, IA; one son, Virgil Fry and his wife, Sandra of Longmont, CO; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Florence Fry; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30A.M., Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
