Gladys Nettie Childers

Gladys Nettie Childers, the daughter of Ole and Nettie Oleson Quee, was born January 20, 1918 on a farm in Okoboji Township, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Okoboji, where she received her education in Okoboji Consolidated Schools. Gladys married Raymond H. Childers on September 16, 1938 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in Everly, until moving to Spencer, Iowa in 1948, where she lived most of her adult life. Throughout her life, Gladys was a dedicated housewife and also did house cleaning for other families. She was an active member of the Little Sioux Lutheran Church for many years, where she was baptized and confirmed and was active in the ladies aid. She most recently was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Gladys loved her pets and all animals. She also loved gardening, being outside and used to hunt and fish with her husband in their early years and was not a bad shot either. Gladys passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond on November 12, 1981; 6 brothers and sisters: Sophia Hartman, Selmer Quee, Almer Quee, Edith Modtland, Henry Quee, Mamie Schwidder and Harold Quee. She is survived by several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer
