Glen Donald Luchtel, son of the late Donald Luchtel and Mary “Mitzi” Dalhoff Maranell, was born May 17, 1955 in Spencer, Iowa. He was the oldest of six children. Glen graduated from Milford High School in 1973. He was married to Mary Luchtel for 33 years, and to that union had two children, Rebecca and Sara. Glen passed away peacefully at the Sanford Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls on September 24th, 2021, with loved ones by his side.
He was a self-employed paint and wallpaper contractor for many years and was known for his talent and quality work. He was an avid sporting clay shooter and pheasant hunter and enjoyed volunteering for the youth pheasant hunt and going for walks with his hunting dogs. He also enjoyed spending time with family, working in his shop, and fishing. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, wit, and stories, always generating laughs at family gatherings.
Glen is preceded in his death by his father, Donald; step-father, Dick; and brother, Lee. Glen will be missed by his mother, Mitzi; siblings: Jeff (Kae), Chris (Kate), Mark (Shellee), and Sue (Brett); friend and former wife, Mary; daughters: Rebecca (Niraj) and Sara (Nick); grandchildren: Lydia and Eliza; and many other family and friends.
Per his wishes there will be a private family service at a later date. Memorials may be given to Iowa Pheasants Forever. Condolences may be shared with the family through Warner Funeral Home.
