Glenda Rae Peterson

           Glenda Rae Peterson, daughter of Albert and Vena (Hopfe) Kramer was born July 19th, 1944 in Spencer, IA. Glenda spent her early years with her siblings on their family farm. She received her education in Spencer.

            On September 19th, 1963, Glenda was united in marriage to Jack Shields in Jackson, MN. During their marriage they welcomed daughter's Kimberly Kaye and Jamie Lynn. Following Jack’s passing, Glenda married Don Peterson in Jackson, MN on July 9th, 1971. To this union, Don and Glenda welcomed their daughter's, Stacie Ann and Tanya Sue.

            Glenda spent well over 40 years babysitting and caring for children as if they were her own. Glenda always made sure holidays were a special time for her family. She loved to bake and decorate for all occasions. 

            Glenda had a very special relationship with all of her siblings. They would often have monthly breakfast gatherings, always keeping in close contact with each other. 

            Glenda became a grandmother in 1983 when her first grandchild, Jessica was born.  Glenda went on to have 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Along with her children, they were her pride and joy. Glenda was a great example for her daughters on how to be a loving and nurturing mother.

            Glenda passed away during the early hours of January 27th, 2024 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Spencer. She will be missed daily by all of her family.

            Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Vena; her first husband, Jack; mothers and fathers in law: Vincent & Josephine Skalla, Claron & Beulah Shields; two sisters: Lila Pooler and Betty Menke; three brothers: Larry Kramer, Gary Kramer and infant Lyle; son in law, Lance Vergith; brothers and sisters in law: Jerry Shields, Joe & Chris Shields, Joe Peterson, Raymond & Shirley Holle, Sharon Peterson, Shirley Kramer, Ron & Velma Wegner, Jim Havick, Dorothy Michael and Charles Pooler; niece, Sherry (Menke) Nelson; beloved family dog, Snuggles. 

            Glenda is survived by her husband, Don of Spencer, IA; her four daughters: Kim Koehlmoos (Monte Puhrmann) of Paullina, IA, Jamie Hansen (Jeff) of Spencer, IA, Stacie Kruger (Chad) of Brandon, SD, Tanya Carlson (Brad) of Spencer, IA; 11 grandchildren: Jessica Burley (Trent Youngstrom), Jeremy Koehlmoos, Branden Puhrmann, Corey, Terrell, Brody, Reece, Alex & Alexa Vergith, Rex & Ross Carlson; 5 great grandchildren: Haylee & Hannah Martin and Kaylee, Aubrey & Kane Youngstrom; brothers: Verlyn (Florence) Kramer and Terry (Judy) Kramer; brothers and sisters in law: Vicki Kramer, Gai Shields, Jim Shields, Carl Michael, Chuck & Helen Hanson, Elaine Wageman & Ron, Al Peterson, Darlene Havick, Ken & Corinne Peterson, Mark & Deb Jensen, Terry & Tomi Peterson, Ron Skalla & Leah; many nieces, nephews and friends.
