Glenn Everett Storm

August 27, 1931 — February 27, 2016

Glenn Everett Storm, the son of Albert and Blanche (Balliet) Storm, was born August 27, 1931 in Sheldon, Iowa. Glenn spent most of his younger years in the Sanborn, Iowa area. He received his education in Sanborn. In 1952, Glenn enlisted into the United States Army. He received an Honorable Discharge in May of 1954 as a Sergeant. He worked in the Sanborn and Sheldon areas in construction and then in Hartley, Iowa at the Hartley Creamery, where he was employed when he and Rita met in 1956. They were married on September 29, 1957 in Primghar at the First Congregational Church. They lived in Hartley and continued his employment at the Hartley Creamery until 1960, when he became employed by Spencer foods and they moved to Spencer. He was employed there until the Spencer Foods stores closed in 1977. Glenn then worked with a carpenter until he became employed by Spencer Municipal Utilities. Glenn gave his 'all' at whatever job he was assigned to do. He retired in 1995. Glenn was not a YMCA member until 2003, but for a number of years enjoyed spending MANY hours assisting the Y's Men at Clay County Fair time preparing and selling nutty bars. He was a very thoughtful man, always willing to help a friend or neighbor, or anyone that needed help. He made a great loaf of 'banana bread' and gave many out at Christmas. In approximately 1970, Glenn started jogging to 'keep in shape' and continued to jog 4 to 8 miles almost daily. He said he thought he jogged around the world 2 times. Glenn enjoyed their two sons, David and Darin. He enjoyed watching them participate and achieve in sports, in school and college, seldom missing a game or meet. Glenn was also a member of the American Legion for many years. He enjoyed fishing and camping as a family. A devoted grandpa, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and their achievements. You may have seen him pull out his wallet from his pocket to 'show off' his family picture to anyone willing to look at it. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, older brother Eldon, and great-granddaughter, Marli Storm. Glenn is survived by his wife, Rita of Spencer, Iowa, his son David and wife, Tori of Spencer, Iowa, his son Darin of LeMars, Iowa and fiance, Julie Swain of Storm Lake, Iowa, younger brother, Don and his wife, Melva of Aurora, Colorado, his granddaughter, Paige Storm and fiance, Carlos Barreda of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and his grandson, Brock Storm and his special friend, Shelby Meyer of Everly, Iowa.
