Gloria Jean Nielsen

November 14, 1927 — January 8, 2007

Gloria Jean Nielsen, the daughter of Henry Ellis and Clara (Larson) Breneman, was born on November 14, 1927, in Sherburn, MN. She received her early education in Trimont and graduated from High School in Sherburn. Following high school, she attended Gustavus Aldolphus College for one year. On December 14, 1946, Jean married Floyd Kenneth Nielsen in Mankato, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in the communities of Sherburn, Hartley and Cedar Falls, where she worked as a bookkeeper at N.E. Psychiatric Clinic for 10 years and eventually settling in Spencer in 1980. Jean was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed playing bridge, reading and fishing. As an avid traveler, Jean visited 45 countries. Jean passed away at her winter home in Corpus Christi, TX, on January 8, 2007, at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Floyd, of Spencer, IA; one son, Tom Nielsen and his wife, Jane, of Dubuque, IA; two daughters: Rebecca Okerlund and her husband, Lee, of Northwood, IA, and Nancy Brown and her husband, Todd, of Holmen, WI; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Dr. James Breneman and his wife, Mary Jo, of Galesburg, MI and Wayne Breneman and his wife, Janet, of Trimont, MN; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
