Goldie Ruth Miller

Goldie Ruth Miller, the daughter of Clyde and Eliza Richardson Utley was born February 4, 1929 in Ayrshire, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Ayrshire area, where she was raised by her adoptive parents Tom and Mary Virgil. She graduated from Ayrshire High School in 1946. Goldie married Walter Miller on September 25, 1946, in Ayrshire, IA, where they farmed. She enjoyed playing music, singing, dancing, and teaching choir. She also enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, and going on trips with Walter, but her greatest joy was spending time with family. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Ruthven, IA. Goldie passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; adoptive parents; her husband, Walt; one brother, Ray Utley; and 5 sisters, Frances Reynolds, June McGee, Arlene Darr, Lois Donihoo, and Lola Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her 2 children, Alan (Linda) Miller and Karen Oestenstad, both of Spencer, IA; 5 grandchildren, Brandi Miller, Ashley (Chad) Schwander, Amy (Brandon) Searcy, Riedar (Miranda) Oestenstad, and Kevin Oestenstad; 12 great-grandchildren, Emma, Lincoln, Murphy, Hudson, Max, Sebastian, Ridge, Maya, Topher, Whitney, Breanna, and Presley; one sister, Annamae "Tootsie" Rosa of Spencer, IA; one sister-in-law, Ruth Miller of Ruthven; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
