Grace Cornelia Raabe

October 3, 1919 — July 2, 2007

Grace Cornelia Raabe, the daughter of Clark and Mary Irvine Ward, was born on October 3, 1919, on the family farm near Ocheyedan, IA. She received her early education in Ocheyedan. On June 28, 1941, Grace married Albert "Pat" Raabe in Primghar, IA. They lived and farmed in the Ochedeyan and Sibley area until 1972 when they moved to and retired in Ocheyedan. In more recent years, she moved to Oak Haven Care Facility in Spirit Lake, IA, in 1976, and Longhouse/Northshire in Spencer, IA, in 2004. Grace had a special talent to grow African violets and then shared the starter plants with others. She enjoyed keeping in contact with family and friends by writing letters and sending cards. Grace passed away July 2, 2007, at Northshire at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1973; grandson, Neil Gordon; and three brothers: Elmer, Arthur and Oliver and Ward. Family who will cherish her memory are her two daughters: Rose Gordon and her husband, LaVern of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Harriet "Sam" Shriner and her husband, Jim of Spencer, IA; two granddaughters: Christine Gordon of Des Moines, IA and Gail Shriner of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Gladys Trower and her husband, Maurice of Topeka, KS; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan, Iowa.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
