Grace Lucille Anderson

Grace Lucille Anderson, the daughter of John and Sarah (Bunjer) Arends, was born September 1, 1923 in Ashton, Iowa. She lived with her grandmother until the 3rd grade in the communities of Excelsior, Round Lake, MN and Lakefield, MN. They later moved to Northwest Iowa, where she attended Melvin Elementary and High School, graduating in 1940. She later attended and graduated from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, where she received her teacher's certificate. Grace married Russell Anderson on December 29, 1943 in Moville, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived in Moville, Iowa, where she taught school for 8 years. Russell passed away on April 13, 1949. In 1955, Grace moved with her family to Hartley, Iowa, where she continued teaching for 30 years, until her retirement. She had received her BA degree from UNI in 1969. In 1986, she moved to Tucson, AZ, where she enjoyed her many years of retirement, until her failing health made it necessary to move back to Iowa to be closer to her family. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Grace passed away at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell; her sisters: Helen Arends, Elsie Hinkle and Bertha Remmers and her brothers: Wilbur Daggett, Donald Daggett, Harold Daggett and Eugene Daggett. Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Dr. Roger Anderson and his wife, Barb�l (Babs) of Iowa City, IA and their children, Yasmin and Torun Choudhury and Raymond Anderson and his wife, Nancy of Cottage Grove, MN and their son, Jason Anderson; one daughter, Carol Bobolz and her husband, Gale of Sioux City, IA and their children: Angela and Clarence Williams as well as their children Quinn and Tavian and Brad and Michelle Bobolz as well as their daughter, Ella Grace; two sisters: Dorothy Perry of South Fort, CO and May Gibson of Banderra, TX; two brothers: Daryle and his wife, Vi and Gary and his wife, Lavonne Daggett all of Sanborn, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 19, 2009 , at the St. James Methodist Church in Sioux City, IA.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 5:00P.M., Friday, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, IA. Visitation will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arlington Township Cemetery Moville, Iowa A lunch will be served at St. James Methodist Church in Sioux City, following the graveside services.
