Greg Allen Elmore, the son of George Elmore and Sheila (Pickett) Steece, was born on July 14, 1973, in Portland, Oregon. He spent his early childhood in Portland and he moved to Spencer when he was 13. Greg finished his schooling here and graduated from Spencer High School. After graduation, he worked at various places in Spencer.
On October 14, 1994, Greg married Julie Carpenter in Dickinson County. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Milford for about 5 years. He worked at Burger King, Buy-Rite Foods, Piccadilly Circus Pizza and a lawn care service. In 1997 he returned to Spencer. Greg enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work, camping and attending figure 8 races. He also liked to watch parades and collect Indian artifacts, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family. Greg enjoyed visiting with people and always made friends wherever he went.
Greg passed away on August 1, 2009, at his home at the age of 36. His grandparents, one aunt and one nephew preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Shiloh Elmore of Spencer, IA; his dad, George Elmore of Kennewick, WA; his mom, Sheila Steece and her husband, Larry of Spencer, IA; two sisters: Brenda Elmore and Marsha Andersen and her husband, Nicholas and their children: Kayla, Kaleb and Kolten of Orange City, IA; his special friends: Tammy Meyeraan and her sons of Spencer, IA, Violet Mumford and Matthew Stewart both of Spencer, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 6, 2009, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
