Greg Bina

Gregory John Bina, the son of William and Amanda M. (Jauert) Bina, was born May 25, 1938 in Marquette, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Northeast Iowa along the Mississippi River in New Albin, IA, where he received his education. Greg married Dolores Hinz on May 18, 1960 in South Dakota. Following their marriage, they lived for a short time in Cherokee and Texas, before moving to Sutherland, Iowa, where they made their home. Greg worked at Wilson Packing Plant in Cherokee for several years, until his retirement. He also operated a home business, Greg Bina and Associates, which was a family fishing tackle business for many years. Greg helped with maintenance and as a representative for Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland for many years. He most recently was responsible for the maintenance of Waterman Cemetery, which he had done for many years. Greg was a member of the Ruritan Club and his legacy for Sutherland will be that he is leaving his building to his friends and community to continue their Thursday and Sunday morning fellowship group that was so important to him. Greg passed away at the Buena Vista Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott in 1986 and his wife, Dolores in November of 2007. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Susan Nash and her husband, Michael of Everett, WA; his son, Steve and his wife, Jennifer Bina of Brentwood, CA; five grandchildren: Allison, Bryan, Austin, Michelle and Stephanie; one great grandson, Easton Scott Bybee; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Shirley Mason of Sutherland; other relatives and many friends.
