Non-Profit Wildlife Care 3012 Center Lake Drive Spirit Lake, Iowa 51360 712-336-3827 Grover Franz Reiser was born May 17, 1947 in Bismarck, North Dakota and died February 7, 2015 in his home in Everly, Iowa, at the age of 67. Grover grew up in North Dakota and considered it his home, even after his family moved to Minnesota when he was twelve. In 1966 he married Cheryl Schipper in Worthington, Minnesota, and had 5 children. They moved to Everly in 1973. He married Jean Tennant on April 4, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was a good friend and stepfather to her three children. Grover drove truck for 45 years, an occupation that took him to every state in the continental U.S. He liked to travel, and experienced his first plane trip with Jean. They flew often, going to several different states to visit friends and family. He was a good-spirited practical joker who loved to make people laugh and never failed to do so himself. After his family, Grover's passion was his cars. He had a 1965 Chevy Impala that he restored with the help of his son, Ryan, and which won many trophies at car shows in Iowa and Minnesota. Last summer he bought his dream car, a yellow, 2004 Corvette, and though his time with it was limited, he enjoyed every minute he drove it. Also very important in his life was Kirby, his dog. They were together for 10 years, and as the end drew near Kirby stayed close to his side. A longtime Minnesota Twins fan, Grover went to many games, and enjoyed taking the grandkids when he could. He and Jean also went to the Twins' training camp at Fort Myers, Florida a few times, and he was once hit by a foul bal--which bounced off him and was picked up and claimed by someone else! He was the proud owner of a baseball signed by Kirby Puckett, as well as other memorabilia. Grover was diagnosed 13 years ago with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was never a smoker, and the cause was unknown. Even though the life expectancy with IPF was 2 years, he amazed the doctors at the Mayo Clinic by living a full and active life, continuing to work and travel; only in the past year did IPF begin to get the better of him. He died peacefully in his home. Grover was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Clara (Voth) Reiser; one brother, Rolland Reiser; and one grandchild, Shelby Elizabeth Reiser. Grover is survived by his wife, Jean Tennant of Everly, Iowa; five children: Lisa (Gary) Loring, Aurelia; Tammy (Allen) Wescott, Mitchell, SD; Jennifer (Todd) Sampson, Wisconsin Dells, WI; Ryan Reiser, Everly; and Melinda Reiser (fiance Paul Smith). Clearwater, FL. Three step-children: Shaun (Debi) Iske, Everly; Paul Iske, Spirit Lake, IA; and Toni (Cory) Sonner, Huxley, IA. Three brothers and a sister: Wade (LaVon)Reiser, Utica, MN; Curt (Donna) Reiser, Rochester, MN; Steve (Mary Ellringer)Reiser, St. Charles, MN; and Beverly (Dan) Mohni, Hartley, IA.
