Harold Duane Christensen

Harold Duane Christensen, the son of Amos and Hildur Johnson Christensen, Sr., was born January 30, 1929 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent on the family farm east of Royal. He received his early education at Lincoln Township Country School and later graduated from the Royal High School. Following his schooling, Harold entered the United States Air Force on September 12, 1950 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1952. Harold married Barbara Hildreth on June 7, 1953 in Terril, Iowa. Following their marriage they moved to a farm near Royal where Harold was a lifetime farmer and also raised cattle. Harold was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal where he served on various church offices and enjoyed volunteering. He was also a Royal School Board Member and served as President, a 4-H Leader, and served on the Royal Elevator Board. Harold passed away on September 25, 2012 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois Mason. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Spencer; his two sons and their wives: Ron and Maureen Christensen and Kent and Nicole Christensen, all of Spencer and one daughter, Rochelle Christensen of Minneapolis, MN; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Amos and Virginia Christensen, Jr. of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends.
