Harold Edward Steffen

Harold Edward Steffen, the son of Henry and Anna (Klatt) Steffen, was born on May 18, 1911 on a farm north of Linn Grove, IA. Harold was the first to be baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal. He received his early education attending country schools in the area. On January 24, 1934, Harold married Ruby Clifton at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Following their marriage, they farmed north of the Linn Grove area their entire married life. Harold also ran a corn shelling and general trucking business. Harold was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal until it closed and then was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Harold enjoyed attending dances and hosting them in their home with the neighbors but most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends. Harold passed away at the St. Luke Lutheran Home on November 27, 2006, at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby on January 10, 2003; two sons: Jim and Tom and one brother in infancy. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Jerry Steffen and his wife, Donna of Emmetsburg, IA; one daughter, Judy Herrin and her husband, Darrell of Slater, IA; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Peterson of Spirit Lake, IA; two daughters-in-law, Polly Phillips of Vail, AZ and Mary Steffen of Eagle Grove, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 30, 2006, at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
OFFICIATING
Pastor Paul Kaldahl will officiate.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 4 P.M. Wednesday with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday night at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer

Oakland Cemetery Peterson, Iowa
