Harold "Bud" Herbert Small, the son of Ira and Iva Stier Small, was born January 13, 1924 in Cherokee County, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the rural Peterson area, where he received his education at Brooke Consolidated School, graduating in 1943.
Bud married Ruth Sweeney on October 26, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived Southwest of Peterson, where he worked as a hired man on a farm near Peterson. In 1954, Bud purchased the Standard Station and operated the business until 1959. They moved to California in 1959, where he worked in construction building homes. They moved back to Peterson in 1962, where he continued operating the Standard Station until 1966. Bud drove the LP Bulk Truck for BJK from 1966 until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Peterson United Methodist Church. Bud also enjoyed playing cards, bowling and spending time with his family.
Bud passed away at the Buena Vista Memorial Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ron and several in-laws.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Sioux Rapids; two sons and their wives: Gary and Bronwyn "Brownie" Small of Spencer, IA and Dale and Brenda Small of Prescott, AZ; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Small of Cherokee, IA; two brothers and their wives: Don and Virginia Small of Nashville, Tennessee and Larry and Wilma Small of Spirit Lake, IA; three sisters: Letha Smith and Iola Ross of Cherokee, IA and Gladys Willis of Yuba City, CA; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services wil be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 10, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Peterson, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 9:00 P.M., Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Peterson.
