Harry 'Red' Lawayne Baxter

October 11, 1934 — April 12, 2010

Harry LaWayne "Red" Baxter, the son of Ernest and Elnora Long Baxter, was born October 11, 1934 in Ayrshire, Iowa. He received his early education in Ayrshire and finished his schooling from the Silver Lake Consolidated School in Ayrshire. Following his schooling, Red worked as a farm hand. On November 13, 1954, Red married Alberta Hockett. Red worked for Spencer Foods, Eaton Corporation and the Coop Elevator in Spencer. He was a member of the Langdon Methodist Church. In his spare time, Red enjoyed fishing, collecting toy tractors and traveling. Mr. Baxter passed away on April 12, 2010, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 75. He is preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Alison Feldman and his brother, Roger. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alberta of Spencer, IA; his children: Harry Baxter (Sarah) of Phoenix, AZ, Roxanne Birchard (Larry) of Lowell, AR, Patty Newbury (Merrill) of West Des Moines, IA and Casey Baxter (girlfriend, Mandy) of Cheyenne, WY; 10 grandchildren; sister, Jackie Bindel (Bill) of Iowa; brothers, Gene Baxter (Francine) of CA and Gary Baxter (Rhonda) of SD; sisters-in-law: Arlene Baxter and Wilma Koch; brothers-in-law: Allen Hockett (Delores) and Leon Hockett (Tomi); many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer, Iowa
