Harry Robert Daniels, Sr.

Harry Robert Daniels, Sr., the son of Gene and Edith (Casteel) Daniels, was born January 31, 1946, in Centerville, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Davenport, Iowa, where he received his education. He entered the military on January 31, 1963, serving in the U.S. Army. Harry married Diane Mathison on April 28, 1966, at the Annie Wittmyer Home Chapel in Davenport, Iowa. Following their marriage, he continued his military career with the U.S. Army until his retirement on October 31, 1984 after 21 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sutherland. Harry had a vast array of hobbies some which include hunting, fishing, gardening, raising animals and woodworking. One of Harry's best qualities was he always had a witty sense of humor. He passed away on his beloved acreage surrounded by his family in rural Hartley, Iowa, on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the age of 70. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Daniels. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diane of Hartley, IA; three sons: Harry Daniels, Jr. and Douglas Daniels, both of Paullina, IA, and Harold Daniels of Rock Rapids, IA; sister-in-law, Jenine Mathison of Hartley, IA; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Shiloh; other relatives and many friends.
