Harvey Eugene Baxter, Sr.

Harvey Eugene Baxter, Sr. the son of Cecil and Marie Conlon Baxter, was born May 10, 1931 in Ruthven, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Ayrshire, Iowa, where he received his early education, graduating from Ayrshire High School. Harvey married Esther Henaman on November 13, 1950 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage they lived in Ayrshire and Gillett Grove, before moving to their home in Langdon, Iowa. He worked at Spencer Foods Packing Plant for 28 years until their closing. He then worked for Dekalb Research for 11 years, until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Harvey was also a past member of the Moose Lodge and a current member of the Farm Bureau. In his spare time, he loved to fish, hunt and play cards. Harvey passed away following a long illness, at his home, in Langdon on July 19, 2007 at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Todd Wittrock. He is survived by his wife, Esther of Langdon; his children: Rebecca and her husband, Mike Wittrock of Spirit Lake, IA, Harvey Baxter, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Langdon, IA, Jane of Linn Grove, IA; Bradley Baxter and his wife, Lisa of Scottsdale, AZ and Daren Baxter and his wife, Lisa of Spencer, IA; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Richard Baxter and his wife, Sandra of Algona, IA; a sister, Elizabeth and her husband, Phillip Janssen of Ayrshire, IA; other relatives and many friends.
