Heidi Jo Kendall-Newgard

    Heidi Jo Kendall-Newgard, the daughter of Jack and Joan Kendall, was born January 14, 1957 in Billings, Montana.  The Kendall family moved from Billings, to Bloomington, Minnesota, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and finally Spencer, Iowa in 1969. The Kendall girls lost their mom on September 5, 1972 and were greatly affected by the untimely death of a young mother. Heidi carried the loss of her mom with her until her death. Jack continued to raise the girls alone.
    Heidi graduated from Spencer High School in 1975. She graduated with a degree in Sociology from Simpson College in 1979. Heidi was the beautiful, gentle, and quiet Kendall girl! She was passionate about her politics, believing in and advocating for social justice- whenever she could!
    Heidi and Monte Newgard were married on December 26, 1987. They had one daughter, Marilyn. As a family, they raised an avid Cyclone fan, a softball player, and a vibrant young woman. Marilyn and Marcus Veflin have two children, Harli and Kyven. There was no better role for Heidi than to be a grandma to them. Heidi found sweet joy in her time with her family.
    Heidi passed away on December 5, 2023, after an illness.  Heidi is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Joan, her in-laws Bonnie and Carroll Newgard, her stepmother Loretta, step-brother Dale Langner, and sisters-in-law Tami Welty and Nina Bishop, and her nephew Kenny Bishop, Jr.
    Heidi is survived by her husband Monte Newgard, Marilyn and Marcus Veflin (Harli and Kyven), two sisters Karen (David) Kendall-Sperry, Becky (Gary) Koenig. Stepbrother Leonard (Marlena) Langner; step-sister, Sharon (Dr. Andrew) Andresen; step-sister, Sandy Langner; brothers-in-law Marty Newgard and Randy Newgard, and her brother-in-law Kenny Bishop.

    The family wishes for memorials to be given to Gentiva Hospice or Spencer Hospital.
