Helen A. Petersen, the daughter of Charlie and Ida Miller Hagedorn, was born April 5, 1931, in Sioux City, Iowa. As a young girl, Helen's family moved to Ruthven, Iowa and she received her early education in Gillett Grove, Iowa. On September 5, 1969, Helen married Marvin Petersen in Spencer, Iowa. Helen worked as a waitress at Charlie's, the North Y and for 12 years at Country Kitchen. She was a member of the Faith Pentecostal Church and the Eagles Lodge in Spencer. Helen was fond of horses, collecting knick-knacks and spending time with her family. On October 30, 2009, Helen passed away at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and her husband, Marvin on November 12, 2000. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dennis Heins and his wife, Dianna of Spencer, IA, Linda Essick of Spirit Lake, IA, Connie Baker and her husband, Kent of Spencer, IA, Debbie Kopel and her husband, Dan of Spencer, IA, Charles Petersen and his life long partner, Ron Schmidt of Sioux City, IA,; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
