Helen Arlene Conrad

June 13, 1922 — April 8, 2006

Helen Arlene Conrad, the daughter of Oliver and Clara Weber Stukey, was born on a farm north of Dickens. Helen attended Meadow Township Country School #7 through the 8th grade, she then attended Spencer High School and graduated in 1941. On February 18, 1947, Helen married Milton Conrad in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, Helen worked as a cook for 32 years at various restaurants in the area. Helen was an active member of the Lost Island Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, raising baby chickens and she loved flowers, especially gladiolas. They lived on farms at Langdon, Dickens, Milford and Graettinger until moving to Spencer in 1996. Mrs. Conrad passed away on April 8, 2006 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Walter and Ralph, two sisters, Pearl Krukow and Ruth Anderson. Helen is survived by her husband, Milton Conrad of Spencer, IA; two sons and their wives: James & Mary Conrad of Moline, IL and Dean & Colleen Conrad of Spencer, IA; one granddaughter and her husband, Michele & Dan Ellingson of Colfax, IA; other relatives and friends. Memorials are designated to the Warner Dialysis Unit at the Spencer Hospital.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the Lost Island Lutheran Church.
