Helen Mae Foote, the daughter of Floyd and Mabel (Hagstrom) Hill, was born on July 9, 1932 in Ruthven, Iowa. She was raised on a farm between Ruthven and Ayrshire. She attended school in Ayrshire and graduating from Ayrshire High School.
She married Marlin Foote on April 25, 1952 in Ayrshire, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Spencer. Helen worked at N.W. Ice Cream Company until they started a family. She also worked at Montgomery Wards for 11 years and then the Clay County Auditors Office for 23 years until her retirement in 1998.
Helen was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was active in the Lydia’s Circle. She was a 60-year member of the Evening Shade Order of Eastern Star. She was a past Matron and longtime treasurer. She was involved with the Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliaries. Helen enjoyed bowling in her younger years, reading, crossword puzzles and Bingo. She loved spending time with friends and being involved in church and organizations and helping people.
Helen passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Spencer Post Acute Rehab Center, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marlin in 2012; her son, Keith and two brothers: Arden and Leslie.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gregory Foote (Cindy Evans) of Spencer, IA; her grandson, David Foote of Sioux City, IA; her granddaughter, Christina Foote of Sioux City, IA; her two sisters-in-law Jerilyn Streit (Steve) of Milford, IA, and Sheryl Orris of Arnolds Park, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
