Helen June Carrington, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Heick) Schultz, was born on June 30, 1917 in Peterson, Iowa. She was raised and attended Brooke School, where she graduated. She then attended Iowa State University where she obtained a BS Degree in teaching. Following college, she taught Home Economics and then she was a wife, mother and homemaker once she got married.
On October 26, 1927, she married William Carrington. They lived in Kingsley, IA and then moved back to Peterson to farm on the family farm. Their final home was in the town of Peterson. She was a member of the First Congregational Church,LadyFellowship, Brook Federation,Club Eastern Star and the Peterson Federated Club. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and family gatherings. Her families favorites were her chicken & noodle soup along with her dinner rolls. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were very dear to her heart.
She passed away on April 24, 2019, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; her daughter, Lynette; her brother, Melvin and her sisters: Thelma Jessen, Mary Lou Buse and Bonnie Geibe.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Bruce (Paula), Dean and David; her daughter, Denise Riley (Dave); her grandchildren: Todd Johns (Audrey), Tracy Johns (Todd), Shannon Carolus, Jennifer Heying (Todd), Amy Thede (Ross), Nicole Norgaard (Nate), Bill Carrington (Christine), Erin Cartwright (Chris), Mandy Erdman (Ben), Kate Herbaugh (Dave), Andy Carrington (Selena), Liz Von Hagen (Scott), Rebecca Farley (Joe); 32 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Jane Stanford; other family and friends.
