Helen Margaret Neve, the daughter of Martin and Susan (Hansen) Tange, was born July 18, 1926 in Hutchinson, MN. She attended grade school and high school in Hutchinson where she graduated. Helen later attended Dana College in Blair, NE, where she received her teaching degree.
Helen married Glen Neve on June 13, 1949 in Hutchinson, MN. Following their marriage, she was an elementary school teacher in Lyons and Fremont, Nebraska for a few years until moving to Spencer in 1950. While in Spencer, she did drapery work for Twetten's Furniture for a number of years and then worked in sales at Nelson Jewelry for 21 years, until her retirement in 1988. She was a past member of the Spencer Clef Club and the Messiah Board. Helen had been a very active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, having served as President of the Church Women, choir director of both junior and senior choirs for many years and also taught both Sunday school and Bible school. Helen was also past president of the Spencer Conference of the Lutheran Women's Association. She was an avid golfer at the Spencer Golf & Country Club and enjoyed playing bridge.
She passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Paul Martin Neve and a brother, Reynold Tange.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Glenn of Spencer; one son, John and his wife, Debra of Minnetrista, MN; four grandchildren: Erin & Jeremy Monsrud, Graham & Jessica Neve, Morgan Neve & fianc�, Dennis Boland, Kelsey Neve and fianc�, Andrew Harms; 3 great grandchildren: Cooper and Kheagan Monsrud and Carson Neve; one sister, Florence Mumm of Albert Lea, MN; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
