Henry William Lietz

November 9, 1916 — April 7, 2009

Henry William Lietz, the son of John and Anna (Bohlmeyer) Lietz, was born on November 9, 1916 in Herring which is located in Sac County, Iowa. He was raised there where he also attended grade school. Henry was united in marriage to Mildred Greder in Odebolt, Iowa on December 29, 1937. He and Mildred lived on a farm near Webb until moving to Spencer in 1969. Henry worked as a custodian at the Gateway Shopping Center in north Spencer until 1993. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. He enjoyed listening to church music tapes, country and gospel music. He also enjoyed walking and getting in his car and traveling. Henry was always faithful everyday doing his daily devotion and reading the Bible. Henry passed away on April 7, 2009, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; two brothers: Wilbur and Edward and two sisters: Evelyn and Alvina. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Norma Jean Whalen and her husband, Ronald of Spencer, IA and Carol Janes and her husband, Ted of Albert City, IA; his son; Norman and his wife, Deanna of Marathon, IA; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his brother, Eldred Lietz of Lake View, IA; his three sisters: Amanda Saur and Dorothy Bloom both of Davenport, IA and Alma Trimmer of Wyoming; as well as many other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:30 - 7:00p.m., Friday evening at the funeral in Spencer.

INTERMENT
Riverside Cemetery Spencer, Iowa There will be a lunch served at the church, following the graveside service.
