Hilda Dorothea Joenks, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Bobzien) Plagman, was born September 5, 1916, on a farm south of Peterson, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent near Peterson, where she received her education at Brooke School.
Hilda married Kenneth Clarence Joenks on March 1, 1933 in Sioux Falls, SD. They lived in Peterson for thirteen years before moving to Rossie in 1947, where they made their home for over forty years. She was an active member of the Rossie United Church of Christ, where she was janitor for many years. When the Rossie church closed, she attended the United Methodist Church in Royal. She moved to Royal in 1999 to live with her daughter. Hilda loved gardening and raising flowers.
She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, February 13, 2009 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lloyd Plagman; one sister, Ida Paulsen and her husband, Kenneth on July 14, 1989.
Left to cherish her memory are her son and his wife, Ronnie and Barbara of Rossie, IA; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Ronny Langholz of Royal, IA; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Marietta, Ohio; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

INTERMENT
The family would like to invite everyone in attendance at the services to join them in a time of cake and coffee at the First Congregational Church in Spencer immediately following the services. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M., Monday at Oakland Cemetery in Peterson.
