Hope Marie Wilken

  Hope Marie Wilken, the daughter of Hans and Lillian Meelhause Dwinger, was born December 10, 1933 in Hartley, IA.  She received her early education in Country Schools and later graduated from Everly High School in 1951.

     Hope married John Wilken on March 6, 1970, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, IA.  Following their marriage, they moved into Everly.  Hope worked at the Everly Elevator from 1952 to 1970, she also worked part time at Everly City Hall from 1989 to 1996.  She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, and very active in organizing Everly Dinner Dates and many All School Reunions.

     On February 17, 2019, Hope passed away at Hartley Community Memorial Health Center at the age of 85.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

     Hope in survived by her daughter and her husband, Julie and Loren Ehlers of Oakland, NE; three grandchildren: Lillian, Landon and Logan; one sister, Ann Mincer of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends.
