Howard 'Sonny' Lee Cross, Jr.

Howard 'Sonny' Lee Cross Jr., the son of Howard and Karell (Grizzle) Cross was born April 24, 1958 in Fort Knox, KY. Because his dad was in the military, he moved around a lot as a child. He was a child model while living in Texas. After graduating in 1976 he attended a telephone repair college in Rodgers, AR. Sonny married Kim Foxhoven on September 3, 1985 in Miami, OK. They owned and operated VIP Communications, installing phones in Walmart's across the United States. He moved to Arnolds Park, IA in 1987 and worked at 2nd Hand Depot, selling antiques and refinishing furniture. He moved to Everly, IA in 1990 and started a trucking business called Sunset Express in 1993 until 2004. Sonny enjoyed 3wheeling, camping, boating, and his dogs, Dancer, Lucky, Lady, and Precious. He also enjoyed playing on his computer after his retirement. Sonny's greatest joy came from spending time with his friends and family. Sonny passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at home, at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; and one daughter Carrie Jo. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Kim of Everly, IA; 3 children, PJ (Jessica) Cross of Melbourne, IA, John Paul Cross of Everly, IA, Kristina Lyn of Hartley, IA; one step-daughter, Jamie Igou (Aaron Carpenter) of Spencer, IA; 13 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Kien Cross of Paris, France, Bill Hammond of Wooster, OH, and Jon (Brandy) Cross of Omaha, NE; one sister, Leah Kay Kile of Chickasaw, OK; other relatives; and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will take place 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 19, at the Warner Funeral Chapel in Everly.
