Howard Thomas Kindlespire Jr., the son of Howard and Mary (Raddon) Kindlespire was born August 13, 1927 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer, IA area, where he attended school, graduating from Spencer High School in 1945. Howard enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1946.
Howard attended an electronics school in Omaha, NE. He was proud to have learned to fly and had a private pilot's license. Howard worked at a sewing shop after returning from Utah and cut meat at A&P Market, before working for the U.S. Post Office for more than 30 years. He volunteered at the LDS Temple in Chicago during the 90's.
Howard married Sylvia Wright on September 16, 1950 in Jackson, MN. They lived in Brigham, UT for several years before moving back to Spencer. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the American Legion.
Howard passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the age of 89 at Hartley Community Memorial Health Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson Lee Kindlespire.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sylvia of Spencer, IA; 6 children, Susan (Ron) Robbins of Draper, UT, Kim (Kaye) Kindlespire of Pleasant Grove, UT, Linda (Jeff) Sorensen of Corona, CA, Nancy (Gary) Stephens of Iowa City, IA, Judy (Curtis) Heinrichs of Sibley, IA, and Mitch Kindlespire of Mesa, Arizona; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); other relatives; and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 6, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Spencer.
