Ilene Marie Sidles

Ilene Marie Sidles, the daughter of Thomas and Imogene (Nissen) Fries, was born November 25, 1947 in Estherville, Iowa.  Her childhood years were spent in Graettinger, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Graettinger High School. 

     Ilene married Donald Sidles on February 9, 1973 in Sioux Falls, SD.  To this union four children were born: Ranae, Kevin, Wanda and Wayne.  After their marriage, they lived in the Graettinger area where they farmed until 1982 when they moved to Spencer.  After moving to Spencer, she did babysitting for many years, she also worked at the Fabric Store until her retirement.  She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.  She truly enjoyed the farm life as well as sewing, baking and woodworking, but most of all she loved her grandchildren, they were her pride and joy.

     She passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Monday, April 8, 2019 at the age of 71.  Ilene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald.

     Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ranae (Ed) Sturgill of Ruthven, IA, Kevin (Nikki) Sidles of Independence, IA, Wanda (Steve) Sundblad of Spencer, IA and Wayne Sidles of Waterloo, IA; 11 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; her siblings: Nancy Burke of Graettinger, IA, Tom Fries of Emmetsburg, IA, Lois Dreblow of Milwaukee, WI and Michael Fries of Glenn Ferry, ID; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
