Irene Anne Schuknecht

Irene Anne Schuknecht, the daughter of Peter and Emma (Jager) Paulsen, was born June 16, 1925 in Hartley, Iowa. She attended school at Hartley, Primghar, Rock Rapids and Maple Plain, MN where she received her education. She was baptized at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley and Confirmed at Trinity United Church of Christ on April 6, 1944. Irene married Kerrill Hahn on December 7, 1944 at Hartley, IA, Iowa and to this union one son, Dennis was born. They lived in Spencer for a few years until Kerrill passed away on December 23, 1949. She married Roy Schuknecht on October 14, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa and to this union was born 6 children. After their marriage, they lived in the communities of Paullina and Sutherland, where she drove school bus for Zion Lutheran Church. She also worked as an aide at nursing homes in Paullina, Sutherland and Cherokee. Later she worked as a waitress at Genal's Caf� in Hartley, The Old P.O. and The Coffee Shop in Sutherland. Irene was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland. She moved to Careage Hills in Cherokee, Iowa in January of 2013. Irene passed away at Careage Hills on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Kerrill; her 2nd husband, Roy in 1980; a grandson, Chris Schuknecht; a baby boy Hahn and two brothers: Harold and Lester Paulsen. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dennis (Cindy) Hahn of Spencer; Carolyn (Frank) Morrow of Cherokee, IA, Richard Schuknecht of Sutherland; Sherri (Richard) Johnson Cherokee, IA, Bruce (Karal) Schuknecht of Cherokee, IA, Ronald (Sally) Schuknecht of Paullina, IA and Donald (Diane) Schuknecht of Eau Claire, WI; her grandchildren: Wendy (Deloy) Bruce of Aurelia, Dennis (Mary) Orthmann of Spencer, Dave (Kallie) Morrow of Cherokee, Melissa Eberly of Cherokee, Rachel (Curt) Fredericksen of Dakota Dunes, SD, Kelli (Jarrod) Harms of Paullina, Erica (Nick) Clark of Cherokee, Brandon Schuknecht of Cherokee, Kayla (Jeff) Linn of Cherokee, Josilyn Schuknecht (Courtney Ball) of Sutherland, Jarrod (Brittney) Schuknecht of Sutherland, John Schuknecht and Megan Schuknecht both of Eau Claire, WI; her great grandchildren: Seth & Lindsey Bruce, Jess Orthmann, Hunter Morrow, Kimberly & Samantha Eberly, Emma & Ali Fredericksen, Colt Clark, Abby & Lucas Linn, Haylee Schuknecht, Tion & Thianna Schuknecht and Riley & Reagan Draper; step grandchildren: Jeremy & Sean Casey, Heather Klinkenbeard and Cavon Riley; step great grandchildren: Bailey & Tyson English, Linsey Linn, Nicholas Clark, Phylisia Dyer, Gaige Roberts, Brenden & Dawson Frink, Tateum & Broedy Casey, Kendra & Gavin Casey, Keagen & Khloe Riley and Camden, Nathan & Braxton Ball; step great great grandchildren: Avalyn Cundy and Tiyanna Dryer; other relatives and friends.
