Irene Etheridge Woolston, the daughter of Paul and Eunice (Williams) Weeks was born November 8, 1926, in the Newland Township in Elizabeth City, NC. Her childhood years were spent in Elizabeth City where she attended and graduated from Newland High School.
On June 3, 1974, Irene was united in marriage to Ronald Woolston in Sioux Falls, SD.
Irene was a member of Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church, of Elizabeth City, NC. She enjoyed reading and sewing. She was a great "southern" cook and was recognized in Country Living and her local newspaper. She loved her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren especially spending time with them on their summer vacations. Ronald and Irene traveled extensively in many places and countries including a special trip to the "Holy Land". They both enjoyed going back to her homeland in North Carolina.
On January 7, 2008, Irene passed away at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn, IA, at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by brothers: Herbert, Jobe, Paul Jr., Charlie, and William Roy; and sisters Louise Burnham and Eunice Banks.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ronald Woolston, of Sutherland; two sons: Charles (Nicky) Craddock and his wife, Naima of Elizabeth City, NC, George Brethowr and his wife, Annette of Dallas, TX; stepson, David Woolston and his wife, Kris of Sutherland, IA; step-daughter, Stephanie Mortimore and her husband, Les of Estherville, IA; grandsons: Cameron Craddock of Atlanta, GA, Shane Brethowr and his wife, Jill of Kansas City, KS, Nolan Brethowr of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Heather Schafer of Chicago, Il; step-granddaughters: Jennifer and Lindsay Woolston of Sutherland, IA, great-grandchildren, Ivan and Tessa Brethowr of Kansas City, KS. Also surviving are sisters: Dora Craddock of Virginia Beach, VA; Ida Kitchen of Yale, VA; and Johnnie Stallings and her husband, Richard of Elizabeth City, NC; mother-in-law Florence Woolston of Sutherland, IA; sister-in-law, Evelyn Woolston; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
