Irma Althea Parks

January 29, 1920 — June 22, 2008

Irma (DeKoster) Parks, Mesa, AZ and formerly of Spencer ad Milford, passed away May 22, 2008, in Coralville, IA. Irma was born in Zeeland MI, January 29, 1920 to C.J. and Mae DeKoster. The family moved to Spencer where Irma graduated from Spencer High School in 1937. Irma married Robert Don Parks of Spencer on November 1, 1941. Irma and Bob moved from Spencer to Wahpeton on West Lake Okoboji in 1962 where they enjoyed golfing and fishing. The moved to Mesa in 1978 where they continued to enjoy their love of golf. Throughout their lifetime Irma valued the friendships they shared through their bowling leagues, supper clubs, bridge clubs and golf leagues, both in Iowa and Arizona. A special joy was teaching the grandchildren their love of golf. She is survived by two daughters: Penny (Emerson) Andrishok of West Branch, IA and Barb Swenson of Eden Prairie, MN; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Gene Robert (Peg) DeKoster of Ingleside, TX and Donald Wayne (Karyl) DeKoster of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law: Carmen DeKoster of Okoboji, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, five brothers, a sister, and a son-in-law.

SERVICES

Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 28, 2007, at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
