Jack Carol Johnson, the son of Gerald Sumner and Nina Ima Rohm Johnson, was born February 26, 1927 in Winner, SD. He grew up in Winner, SD and then moved to Minnesota and later to Spencer. Jack entered the U.S. Army in 1946, serving during W.W.II until his honorable discharge in 1947.
On March 7, 1948, Jack married Lois Rauhauser in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, Joliet, IL, Ayrshire and then moved to Everly in 1962. For 25 years, Jack worked for Farmer's Elevator in the communities of Spencer, Ayrshire and Everly. Following his retirement, he continued to work at Wal-Mart from 1999 to 2003. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, American Legion and the V.F.W. He was a past member of the Eagles. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jack passed away on May 27, 2008 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Faith; 3 brothers and 7 sisters.
Jack is survived by his wife, Lois of Everly, IA; 4 sons: James and his wife, Dee of Royal, IA, Terry and his wife, Rhonda of Royal, IA, Daniel of Everly, IA and Michael and his wife, Sandy of Royal, IA; 4 daughters: Pamela Miller and her husband, Larry of Everly, IA, Diane Heller of Everly, IA, Lynne Mills of Dickens, IA and Donna Shuck of Everly, IA; foster son, Russel Momsen and his wife, Sabrina of Royal, IA; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Chase of Creston, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 31st, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, Iowa.
