Jack Harrison Porter, the son of John and Gertrude (Frahm) Porter, was born February 8, 1927 in Mankato, MN. His childhood years were spent in Mankato where he received his early education. His family later moved to Ft. Dodge, IA, where he continued his education.
Jack entered the military in April of 1945 and served with the U.S. Army during WWII until his honorable discharge in January of 1947. After his service to his country, Jack returned to Ft. Dodge, where he worked as a bus driver for Scenic Hawkeye for 22 years until his retirement in 1990.
He married Lillian Marie Ringsdorf on June 6, 1968, in Algona, IA. After their marriage, they moved to Spencer. Jack was a member of Grace United Methodist church in Spencer.
Jack passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian on February 9, 2012; three children: Russell, John Henry & John Raymond; four brothers: Charles, Raymond, LeRoy and Jerry Porter; one sister, Shirley Sweeney; and three stepdaughters: Jane Blanchard, Beverly Zittritsch and Janice Struthers.
He is survived by one son, LeRoy Porter of Joplin, MO; his stepchildren: Richard Ringsdorf of Algona, IA, Sharon Elbert of Mason City, IA, Bonnie Zittritsch and husband, Ron of Morton, IL, Terry Ringsdorf of Omaha, NE, and Shirley Smith and husband, Peter of Houston, TX; one grandchild; 70 stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; other relatives, and thanks to his special friend, Jim Sennert and Gene Blanchard for all their help.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Military services will be conducted by American Legion Glen Pedersen Post #1 and V.F.W. Clay County Post #3159 both of Spencer following the graveside services.
Cake and coffee will be served following at the Wesley Room at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer immediately following the graveside services.
