Jack Jordan

August 25, 1910 — April 6, 2010

Elmer Adolph Jordan, the son of Herman and Hannah (Lohrman) Jordan, was born on August 25, 1910 in Summit Twsp., Iowa. When he was 4 years old the family moved to a farm southwest of Spencer. He went to country school and graduated from Spencer High School in 1927.After graduation he farmed southwest of Spencer. On May 28, 1939, Jack married Irene Stearns in Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they continued to farm. Irene passed away on March 18, 1971. Jack was an active member of the Congregational Church for 65 years, and a boy's 4-H leader for 15 years. He also served on the executive board of the Clay County Fair for 11 years and he also served on the County Board of Review. Jack was also on the Clay Central School Board, a 50-year member of the Royal Lions Club and a member of the Spencer Golden K. He enjoyed fishing and watching baseball and loved the Clay County Fair. He was very blessed to be able to live on his farm, which he loved, until 2007, when he moved into Spencer. Jack passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 99. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 3 sisters and one brother. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jill Mortensen of Mankato, MN; two granddaughters: Rachel Chunn and her husband, Glenn of Gustavus, AK and Leah Mortensen of Lacrosse, WI; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30A.M., Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the First Congregational Church in Spencer.
