Jack Lowell Easter, the son of Elza and Inez (Galloway) Easter, was born August 3, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Norwalk, Iowa until 1937 when his family moved to Winterset at age 12. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1943. After his schooling, he began photography school until he was called to serve his country with the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in 1945. After his discharge, he resumed his photography studies in January of 1946 at Ray School of Photography in Chicago. After graduation, Jack attended Hans Barten School of Retouching for two years. He began working for Johnson Photo in Atlantic, IA. During vacation, Jack continued his education in portraits with the Winona Graduate School of Photography. He also attended Drake University and the Graduate School of Banking University of Wisconsin.
Jack married June Miner on February 12, 1949 in Winterset, IA. They had three children: Jay, Jill and Jean. Jack bought his first studio, the Headlee Studio in Osceola, IA. Jack then bought a second studio in Winterset, IA and later sold the Studio in Osceola back to the original owner and continued to run the studio in Winterset. In 1960, Jack sold the Winterset studio and went to work for Easter Enterprises in East Des Moines, IA. Jack moved with his wife and two children to a new home in Altoona, IA and later moved to Spencer, Iowa, where they made their home, where Jack began his career with Farmer’s Trust & Savings Bank. June passed away in 1974. Jack was a very active member of the First Christian Church for 49 years.
Jack married Marilyn Krzmarzick on October 11, 1974. Marilyn brought to this union four children: Thomas, Mark, Ann and Mary. Throughout their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer. In 1974, he became a member of the Catholic Church and has been a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Spencer since that time. He had served as usher, lector, lay distributor, CYO teacher and had been involved in Marriage Encounter and parish vocations team. He had served on the Advisory Board of Sacred Heart Parish and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1975. Jack also served as a deacon at Sacred Heart Parish. In his professional career, Jack served on the Board of Directors of Farmer’s Trust and Savings Bank of Spencer & also held many offices within the Bank including serving as President, a position he held until his retirement. He was involved in numerous professional and civic organizations and committees in Spencer and Clay County. Marilyn passed away in 2004.
Jack married Jacqueline “Jacque” Baker on March 28, 2005 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa.They have continued to live in Spencer.
He passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the age of 92. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st wife, June and his 2nd wife, Marilyn; one son, Jay Easter and a granddaughter, Margaret Easter.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jacque of Spencer and her children: Cole Lineweaver of Spencer and Eric Lineweaver of Milford, IA and her grandchildren: Austin, Blake & Kristin; his children: Mary (Matt) Easter-Hopp of St. Paul, MN, Jean (Eric) Feller of Vinton, IA, Tom (Debbie) Krzmarzick of Hamilton, OH, Mark and his wife, Bernie Krzmarzick of Hawthorne Woods, IL, Jill (Mike) Ryan of Spencer, Ann Krzmarzick of Vadnais Heights, MN; 21 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Provost of Creston, IA; other relatives and friends.
