James Allen Anderson, the son of James and Carrie (Larsen) Anderson was born October 23, 1942, in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer area where he was raised by Carrie and his stepfather, Henry Everhart. Jim attended school at Cornell, Aurelia, and Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School in 1961. Following high school Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a hospital corpsman at the Oakland Naval Hospital and San Francisco Naval Shipyard until his Honorable Discharge in 1966.
Jim married his lifetime sweetheart Sharon Ann Olson on July 1, 1962, in Spencer, IA. They were blessed with two daughters, Brenda Kaye and Kimberly Ann.
Jim was employed at Coast to Coast for 13 years. He loved the hardware business and managing Toyland during the Christmas seasons. The remainder of his working career was spent as shop foreman at Pixler Electric, where he worked for 28 1/2 years.
Throughout his life Jim's priority was spending time with loved ones, and he took every opportunity to participate in his kids' and grandkids' lives. He enjoyed family camping trips, fishing, sewing, playing cards and games, dancing, and attending his grandkids' activities. He was thankful when retirement allowed him extra time for quilting with Sharon. Jim was a wonderful baker and took pride in his Clay County Fair entries. Winning the $1000 Cinnamon Roll Contest was a highlight. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the American Legion, a past member of the Daybreakers Kiwanis and Thrivent board, and a former Boy and Girl Scout leader.
Jim passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, at University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, mother and stepfather.
