James F. Laddusaw (Jim) was born March 11, 1935, in LeMars, Iowa, to Lawrence Laddusaw and Leona Ruba Laddusaw Smith. Jim grew up in Everly, Lake Park, and Sioux City. He graduated from Sioux City Heelan High School. From high school, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and he served two years in Hammelburg, Germany. After his honorable discharge from the army, he worked for Sunbeam Corp. in Chicago before returning to Sioux City.
In June, 1960, Jim met his future wife, Betty Jonas. They married in 1962. The following year, Jim started a new career in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a federal meat inspector with the USDA. Shortly thereafter, Jim and Betty had their first son, Mark. In 1965, Jim and Betty moved their family to Spencer, Iowa. They attended mass regularly at Spencer Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Two more sons, Todd and Matt, were born in Spencer. They made many lifelong friends in the community. Jim retired from the USDA after more than thirty years of service.
Following his retirement, Jim took great pride in meticulously improving the outside of their home and perfecting his beautiful lawn. He also enjoyed helping with Spencer high school sporting events, traveling, golfing, playing cards with his grandchildren and enjoying time spent with family and friends. Additionally, he passionately supported his favorite sports teams, Sioux City Heelan High School, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the New York Yankees.
Jim was preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Leah; His parents; two brothers, Bob & Bill; one sister, Shirley Custer; and, many treasured family and friends.
Jim is survived by: his wife of fifty-five years, Betty; his three sons: Mark (Janet) of Whittemore, IA., Todd (Jenny) of Inver Grove Heights, MN., and Matt (Holly) of Suwanee, GA.; thirteen grandchildren; a brother, Don (Micki) of Sioux Falls, SD.; a sister, Pat Wetrosky of LeMars, IA.; and, a sister-in-law Marge Laddusaw of Kingsley, IA.
