James "Jim" Lloyd Tomason

     Jim L. Tomason, the son of George and Anna (Nelson) Tomason, was born on Nov 10th, 1933, in Bonesteel, SD. His childhood years, living in Bonesteel and Herrick, were spent attending school, completing the 8th grade. He then began helping his sisters ( Viola and Dorothy) on the farm. As a young man, he worked for REA, providing power to areas for the first time in the early 1950s. He also worked building the Fort Randall Dam in Pickstown, SD.
     He entered the army on July 11th, 1956, where he attained the rank of Private First Class. On July 10th, 1962, Jim was honorably discharged from the reserves, with his active duty ending in May of 1958.
Jim returned to South Dakota and operated a service station in Springfield and Yankton. There he met his wife C. Gayle Jetter. They married on June 5th,1959 in Kadoka, SD. They lived in a number of locations in South Dakota, Nebraska (Crete 16 years), and Iowa (LeMars, Cherokee, and Spencer 39 years). After running several service stations, he worked for Terrace Park Dairy before starting at Cherokee Bottling and Mid-Continent Bottlers in Spencer, where he retired in 1989.
They had two sons, Dana born in 1960, and Todd born in 1964. He enjoyed working on cars, remodeling the house, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
     He passed away on Dec 29th, 2021, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by his loved ones.
     Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Dana and his wife Sue and Todd and his wife, Reda. Dana and Sue’s three children: Corey and his wife, Katie with one daughter, Anthony and his fiancé, Cindy with one son and Nick and his wife, Brandi with one daughter and three sons.

     Todd and Reda’s two children: Aaron and his wife, Nicole, with one daughter and son. Chris and her husband, AJ. Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, both sisters, and his beloved wife, Gayle.

VISITATION
There will be a memorial visitation with the family from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M., Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Following the visitation the family would like to invite you to the Pizza Ranch for a time of food and fellowship.
INTERMENT
Burial will be at a later date.
