James "Jim" Michael LeStrange, the son of James William and Clara (Stratman) LeStrange, was born May 31, 1941 in Spirit Lake, IA. Jim was raised in Terril, Iowa, where he received his education, graduating from Terril High School in 1961. After his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Air Force from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965.
Jim married Kathy Murray on April 8, 1967 in LuVerne, MN. Following their marriage, Jim and Kathy lived in Renton, Washington where Jim worked for Boeing Aircraft before moving back to Iowa, where Jim began his trucking career. They lived in Terril, IA from 1968-1971 and then moved to Estherville, Iowa in 1971, where they raised their three children. In 1982, he moved to Burt, IA and he has lived in Spencer, Iowa since 1992. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends, walking his dogs - visiting with friends along the way, and enjoyed discussing both current and historical events. He was a proud veteran who believed in helping others and did so every chance he could.
He passed away at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the age of 73. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his special friend and life partner, Judy Drenth of Spencer, IA. Jim and Judy shared a love of their kids, dogs, and hosting family events.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Todd LeStrange and his wife, Anita of Paullina, IA, Amy Weber and her husband, Don Wells of Kansas City, MO and Chad LeStrange and Lisa Greve of Lost Island, IA; his grandchildren; two sisters: Carmen Mills and her husband, Bruce of Des Moines, IA and Maurine Johnson of Steward, NE; his aunt, Margery Stratman; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
