James 'Jim' Ralph Hoye

January 26, 1942 — July 4, 2015

James 'Jim' Ralph Hoye, the son of Harry Eugene and Kathryn Leona (Peters) Hoye, was born January 26, 1942, in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School, Aberdeen, South Dakota, in 1960. Following high school, he attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD, transferring to the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, where he received his Bachelors in Education and English Lit in 1964. Jim entered into the military on February 24, 1965, serving in the U.S. Air Force at Blaine Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged on October 23, 1968. The Hoye family lived in many cities such as Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; Butte, MT; Aberdeen, SD; and Tacoma, WA. Jim began working with the Milwaukee Railroad part-time at the age of 14. Following his schooling and military duties, he continued working with the Railroad in Washington. Jim worked at the Ft. Lewis Army Base as a civilian clerk, following his time in the Railroad. He retired in the late 90's. He became a painter; poet, publishing two books; photographer; and songwriter, playing the guitar and keyboard. Jim passed away on July 4, 2015, at the Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by one brother, David Hoye and wife, Cheri, of Everly, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 11:00a.m., Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
