James Larry Jordan

December 22, 1942 — December 28, 2011

James Larry Jordan, the son of James and Gwen (Mather) Jordan, was born on December 22, 1942, in Santa Monica, CA. He was raised and received his early education there. Following high school, he moved to Iowa and started working for the Milwaukee Railroad. Larry married Cheri Taylor on March 3, 1972, in Spencer, IA. Following their marriage, the couple moved to California, near the Bay Area. Larry started working for the Pipefitters Local Union #342. They eventually moved up into northern part of the state, where they raised their family. Larry enjoyed being outside, spending his time in the woods and mountains. He also liked to go fishing and play golf. Larry loved his family, and was the greatest husband, father and grandpa ever. He was always helping others and really enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren. The couple moved back to Dickens, Iowa in 2001, so Cheri could be closer to her family. Larry passed away very suddenly at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Les Jordan and two nephews: Bobby Jordan and Daniel Lawson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cheri of Dickens, IA; two sons: Earl Taylor (T.J) and his wife, Linda of Ruthven, IA and Chris and his wife, Star of Oroville, CA and several grandchildren. Larry will also be missed by other relatives and many friends.
