Jane Kay Brown, the daughter of Harold & Mary (Kruse) Dean, was born August 29, 1937 in Arnolds Park, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Peterson, IA, where she received her early education and later graduated from Peterson High School. Jane later attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, IA. After her schooling, she returned to Peterson and worked as a secretary for Peterson School.
Jane married Wayne Brown on November 28, 1958 at the Congregational Church in Peterson. After their marriage, they moved to Lake Park, Iowa, where she worked as a secretary for an automotive dealership. In 1972, they moved to Sibley, IA, where she worked as a secretary for Farmer's Coop for many years until her retirement. She had a lot of love for nature and the outdoors, but did not like the sunshine or the open water. Jane loved to read and doted on her wild birds. Throughout her life, there was nothing more important to her than her family. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Peterson. Jane was also a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.
She passed away at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the age of 77. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joan; 3 brothers: Emerson, Robert & Ward & one son, Dean.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wayne of Peterson; four children: Terry (Bev) Brown of Denver, CO, Dawn (John) Beard of Land O' Lakes, FL, David Brown of Primghar and James Brown of Waterloo, IA; her grandchildren: Danielle, Christopher (Terri), Michaela Jane, Gabrielle (Jon), Tricia (Ryan) & Christa Jane; her great grandchildren: Alexandra, Shaelyn, Sebastian, Shawna, Scot, Michael, Christian, Kaitlyn and Tyler; one brother, Jerry (Rheta) Dean; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct.16 at First Congregational Church in Peterson, Iowa.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15 with the family present from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Warner Funeral Home in Peterson.
