Jane Claire Hanson

Jane Claire Hanson, the daughter of Leroy and Mabel (McKim) Varnum was born on September 28, 1925 in Marshalltown, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the LaMoille, IA area where she attended school. She graduated from Oak Park Academy in Nevada, IA in 1943. Jane worked for one year as a bookkeeper before she married Wayne Hanson on June 4, 1944 in Marshalltown. They lived in Sioux Rapids, IA before making their home in Webb, IA in 1960. Jane enjoyed going for walks, gardening, feeding birds, playing dominos and cheering on the Hawkeyes. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and family and was excited to prepare holiday meals. She was part of the Hospital Auxiliary for 30 years and spent many years as a Webb First Responder. Jane passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Hawkeye Care Center in Sioux Rapids, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dennis; her brother, Richard; and her sister, Miriam. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wayne of Webb, IA; 4 children, Kathy (Gary) Bollinger of Lincoln, NE, Carol (Warren) Toay of Jud, ND, Sue (Bryan) Harris of Redmond, WA and Bruce (Tammy) Hanson of Webb, IA; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
