Janet Kay Horning

September 28, 1940 — May 3, 2014

Janet Kay Horning, the daughter of Elmer and Pearl (Rabbe) Bruggeman, was born September 28, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent near Lake City, IA, where she received her education. After her schooling, she worked at a hospital in Fort Dodge, IA. Janet married Gary Horning on June 23, 1970 in Omaha, NE. Following their marriage they lived in Audubon, Iowa, where she worked at a nursing home and she raised her family. They moved to Spencer, Iowa in 2000, where she worked at Janitor's Closet until her retirement. She was affiliated with Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. She passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the age of 73. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her 1st husband and one son, Joe. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary of Spencer; her children: Debbie (Matthew) DeVore of Manchester, IA, Jane (Grant) Niemeyer of Inwood, IA and John (Lea) Horning of Spencer, IA; 3 grandchildren: Noah, Opal & Sophia Hazel; her brothers and sisters: Junior (Gayle) Bruggeman of Mountain Home, AR, Shirley (Frank) Pickens of San Antonio, TX, Linda (Bill) McCrea of Lake City, IA and Larry Bruggeman of Lake City, IA; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES

Graveside Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Riverside Cemetery Spencer, Iowa There will be a lunch served at the Grace United Methodist Church following the service at the graveside.
