Janice Kay Kracht, the daughter of Adolph and Evelyn (Powers) Vohs, was born January 1, 1941, in Sioux City, Iowa. She spent her childhood years on a farm east of Sioux City, graduating from Lawton High School in 1959.
Janice graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing and practiced nursing in Sioux City and Denver, Colorado.
She married Douglas Kracht on August 29, 1965 and following their marriage she served along with her husband in the U.S. Air Force for 2 years. In 1979, Janice and her husband retired to Iowa where Doug farmed near Peterson, Iowa.
During this time Janice was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, and other community activities.
Janice passed away at the Spencer Hospital on October 15, 2010 at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Douglas Vohs.
She is survived by her husband and a sister, Joan Murray and her husband Roger, of Lincoln, Nebraska, a sister-in-law, Jane Barker of West Des Moines, Iowa, nieces, Dana and Karen Murray of Lincoln, Nebraska, Melissa Vohs of St. Joe, Missouri, and JoAnna Rowe and her husband Jared of Minneapolis, Minnesota, a nephew John Barker of Minneapolis Minnesota and Marty Vohs of Moville, Iowa, other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aurelia, Iowa
