Jayne Ann Poulsen

Jayne Ann Poulsen, the daughter of Ervin 'Dutch' and Dorothy (Steiner) Kruse, was born February 17, 1954 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Royal, Iowa, where she received her education at Clay Central High School. Following her graduation, she continued her education at South Dakota State University, where she was an English major. She later transferred to the University of Iowa, where she graduated with a double major in English and Education. She began her teaching career at Norfolk, Nebraska, where she taught English for 3 years. She moved to Beloit, WI, where she continued teaching English for 30 years, until her retirement in 2009. During her career, she was active in the Teacher's Union, coached Jr. High Track, the Pom Pom Squad, and officiated the Quiz Bowl. Jayne married Craig Poulsen on July 25, 2009 in Spencer, Iowa. After their marriage, they made their home in Spencer, where she was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, being outside, reading, cross stitching, cooking with Craig, baking and traveling. She passed away peacefully at her home in Spencer, following a short bout with cancer on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the age of 62. Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, Dutch and Dorothy Kruse; Mother and father-in-law, Carl and Velma Poulsen; and one brother-in-law Richard Poulsen. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Craig and her beloved kitty Ellie of Spencer, IA; Daughters, Melissa (Aaron) Sedey of Blaine, MN; grandchildren Finley, Makena & Kipton; Jennifer (Shane) Halbur of Milford, IA; grandsons Cristopher & Jacob; Jillian (Jon) Weaver of Stockport, IA; grandsons Jackson & Henry. One sister, Nancy Whittenburg and her husband, Charley of Spencer, IA; one brother, Kevin Kruse and his wife, Cathy of Garner, IA. Nieces, Heidi (Brian) Hancock of Marion, IA; Bridgette (Nate) Schmidt of Spencer, IA; Caidyn Kruse of Garner, IA; and nephew Caleb Kruse of Cedar Falls, IA; Sisters and brothers-in-law, Cal Poulsen, Terry and Jean Poulsen, Mary Ellen and Bob McKee, Gail Poulsen; several other nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
