Jean Anne Richards

Jean Anne Richards, the daughter of Anthony and Marguerite (Doyle) Rubes, was born on August 8, 1926, in Spencer, IA. She was raised and received her early education in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School as the valedictorian of her class. On April 5, 1947, Jean married Robert Richards in Spencer, IA. To this union two children were born: Linda and Robert. Following her marriage, Jean worked at various places, before starting at John and Marie Hart Investments, where she worked for 22 years, retiring in 1985. Jean was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Spencer Drama Club. Jean was an avid reader and loved to learn the meaning of new words. She loved to travel and visit her sisters and grandchildren. She was fond of animals and used to raise dogs, but in her later years she really enjoyed cats; they were very important to her. Jean's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Ruthven Care Center at the age of 87 1/2. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and one brother. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Pitt and husband, Steve of Ruthven, IA; her son, Robert and wife, Andrea of Mankato, MN; 3 grandchildren: Leslie Ann Moore and husband, Austin and their children: Harper and Avery; Justin Pitt and wife, Shannon and their child, Otis; and Ashley Ruch and husband, R.J. and their children: Savannah and Damien; one brother, Joseph Rubes and wife, Marilyn of Rogers, AR; other relatives and friends.
